Domein Pietersheim – Where beautiful weddings happen

Hello dear reader! One more time I have to apologize for taking so long to post something here. The last month of the official wedding season was for me very busy. Now that things start to happen on it’s “normal” rhyme, I’m getting my posts organized for every week (yayyy). So today’s post is about a wedding that happened at the Domein Pietersheim.

You’ve probably seen this couple before. I made a post about their pre wedding session a while ago and now it’s time to share their wedding day (click HERE to check it again).

Femke en Kenneth changed their vowels at the city hall  of Lanaken, surrounded by family and friends. They are not a traditional couple, so don’t expect to see their wedding rings as we normally see. Instead, they had the first letter of their names tattooed on their finger. Bridesmaids, pageboy, beautiful location for each part of their wedding. They chose carefully and they hit the target.

Their party was full of joy. Femke enjoyed the dancefloor a lot and the guests were followed by her enthusiasm.

It is always great to see two families becoming one. Femke and Kenneth are together for already a long time. And time just made their love grow. Be part of the official union of two families makes me thrilled. And at the Domein Pietersheim the beauty it’s just there.

For now, enjoy their pictures.

Civil wedding in Leuven – Belgium

Hello again! Today’s post will be about the civil wedding in Leuven – Belgium that I took pictures of beginning of June.

Karen and Dries came to me through his brother Jasper and their sister-in-law Nele. I took pictures of their wedding last year (if you have not seen the post click here). In fact, Karen and Dries’ wedding was divided into two stages: the civil wedding in Leuven – Belgium in June of this year and the religious ceremony to be held in June of next year (2018).

For the first marriage, Karen and Dries invited their family and close friends to witness this union. Leuven city hall is one of the most beautiful and imposing I have ever seen. It is located in the center of the city, in the middle of the square, and looks more like a castle than a city hall (laughs). And like every civil celebration, it all happened very fast.

After the greetings we opted to quickly photograph the couple and guests in an open space of the city hall. Then we went to the bride’s parents’ house, where a small reception was held for the same ones who attended the civil celebration.

Formalities fulfilled, it’s time to enjoy everyone’s company and have fun. That’s what the bride and groom did. Check out the photos of this beautiful day.

Stephanie and Patrick – Tears of joy

Stephanie and Patrick got married in August 2016 on a sunny and wonderful day. There were tears of joy to show the happiness of the bride and groom and their family for this relationship.

The day began in Lummen, a city in Belgium in the Limburg region. I photographed Stephanie’s making off and waited for the groom’s arrival for the First Look. The instant the groom arrived, he could not shake the emotion.

We proceeded to the city hall, where official marriages take place in Belgium, and more tears ran down as they said “yes” to each other.

It was an intimate ceremony, for the family and few friends, but surrounded by lots of love. And it could not have been different in the course of the day. Reception and dinner for 40 people happened in a hall next to the house of the bride and groom, surrounded by much laughter and much joy. Everyone felt at home and the proposal of the bride and groom to do something intimate and lively was respected and followed.

The couple does not feel very comfortable posing for photos. Does not fit too much in their profile. The proposal, then, was to make them extremely comfortable not to look at the camera and do whatever came into their heads {Do not confuse with lack of direction 😉 } Result: fun, laughter and many tears of joy.

Gatsby Wedding Theme in Belgium

A wedding with a theme? Some people think that that cannot succeed. But 24 of September came along with this beautiful wedding themed Gatsby.

And Lieve en Jan made a party like nobody.

The preparations took place at their home, together with her family.

Totally different from the tradition in Belgium, Lieve wanted to be seen by Jan by the time that she was coming into the church.

And a beautiful ceremony happened at the church of Alt-Hoeselt  .

Once said “yes”, it’s time to celebrate this love. To tell you the truth, it doesn’t really matter if it’s sunny or not.

What a photographer wants to see, wants to feel and for sure wants to capture is the love between the couple. We were very happy with the sunny day and the many possibilities of locations that we had. But I’m pretty sure that wouldn’t be a problem to catch the same look… the same kisses… the same complicity in another kind of environment.

To make the day even more special, I was very happy to speak Portuguese with the groom. He lived in Espírito Santo – Brazil for one year. His Portuguese is amazing. And the mug with the Brazilian flag represents their passion for Brazil very well 😉

Gatsby theme, nice weather, cute kids and a perfect couple.

So, put your Gatsby mood on mode ON and enjoy the pictures!

Love between Argentina and Belgium

Simply one short word for this couple and their wedding: LOVE!

There is nothing else better to describe what I felt taking the pictures of this gorgeous day. And I could not let 2016 turn into 2017 without sharing these pictures.

Mariel is from Argentina and Ben is from Belgium. They met each other in France and started their love story immediately.

The connection between them is just amazing. It makes people be sure that there are soulmates and that they are meant to be together (I am already sure about that ;D).

A mix of two cultures, bringing together the best of themselves. Connecting two families from different parts of the world to become one big family.

But for this day was not only the mix of latin and Belgian cultures but a mix of everything: the light was simply perfect for pictures. The sky in a blue that I rarely see in Belgium. The location in Genk: Hotel Stiemerheide… Uau!

What could not have been different: their first dance. Tango, of course! And so well danced. I felt like I was in Argentina.

Besides what they share and the beautiful day in Belgium, what also made that 10th of September incredible was the vibe from all the guests.

Argentinians and Belgians dancing together, communicating, laughing, drinking and just having fun.

Mariel is pregnant and I also had the pleasure to take pictures of the belly. But that is an story for another post 😉

For now you can check their wedding and feel the love with the pictures.

Hasta luego!

Final rehearsal 🙂

Love between Argentina and Belgium

For 2017, I’d like to wish love and light!

That we may achieve our dreams and share good moments with our family and friends.

And be sure that we are doing good for this world.

Happy 2017!

Tomorrowland – Wendy and Marijn

Today’s post is about Wendy and Marijn. A sweet couple from Belgium, who met each other at the most famous party of Belgium: Tomorrowland.

Besides sweet, they are ready to show their love to everybody.

I remember his speech at the wedding day, saying that he thought he wouldn’t have a chance with her.

But there they were, saying a big YES to each other. And with a witness in her belly 🙂

Check out the pre wedding pictures of this amazing couple. They don’t share only love, but also complicity and respect.

Love shoot in Washington

A love shoot in Washington!

It’s amazing how events bring some people to your life.

In May this year, I flew to the USA as a guest of a friend’s wedding and the day of the wedding I got to know this sweet couple.

She, from Peru. He, from USA. Fiorella and Bradley.

We took pictures at an amazing location: the pier of the Gaylord National Resort, in Washington D.C.

One day before the shoot, the weather wasn’t so good, which could be a problem both for the session and for the wedding of my friends, who planned the ceremony at the pier.

But I think we get what we deserve, and these two couples got a lot: the weather was a blessing, making it a gorgeous day, with bright and shiny sun! We could feel happiness and love in the air…

Fiorella and Bradley have this sweet and confidential look. And you can see how much love they share.

Take a look on this shoot and feel their energy too.

Bride and shoes – Leentje and John

For me was an honor to be part of Leentje and John’s wedding.

They contacted me a few months before, really excited with everything that was going to happen. We went for a meeting and there I could see how amazing they are together.

Leentje told us with so much enthusiasm about the hole day and I have to say: everything was like planned. She is one of those brides who really knows what she wants.

Because they wanted to do something different from traditional weddings in Belgium (the bride wanted to be seeing by the groom just at the time that she would go into the aisle), that made the day even more special.

Belgium summer day, beautiful venue ate their garden, 40 guests, with their dogs coming in with the rings.

For the rest of the day, they shared laughs, thoughts, happiness and love. And you could also see that on every detail, made specially by them.

Bride and shoes

Now, pay attention on the style of the bride (bride and shoes) for the party! Loved it!

Leentje and John, keep on going with your super sense of humor!

Lot’s of love to you two.

Wedding in Belgium – Jolien and David

On 09 of July Jolien and David got married in Belgium. We had our first talk a bit less than one year before the wedding in Belgium. My neighbor introduced us and we talked a lot that day. It was a really nice conversation about the expectations of their wedding day.

The day after I got a message saying that they wanted me to take the pictures of their wedding. Happy me! 🙂

So the day arrived and the sun was shining. Something unsure in Belgium, even when it’s summer.

The tension grew when it was just about timing for the groom to show up at their place (tradition in Belgium). Jolien was anxious about it. Really looking forward to and getting nervous.

Once he rang the door and she opened, they immediately started to cry. I realized that 09/07 would be an emotional day.

And so it was.

During the ceremony the guests were crying, the couple was crying and the photographer was taking pictures and crying. But that was behind the cameras 😉

We went to the reception and after some time we started the couple pictures. The couple looked so nice and so in love with each other that even if the weather weren’t great it wouldn’t be a problem at all. My mission is to capture love and love was there to be captured. Outdoor places, gardens, green, a path. Was enough. Was beautiful.

The party of a wedding in Belgium normally starts after the dinner. It wasn’t different here. But before they could break on the dancefloor some friends prepared some pictures to show on a screen and they made all the guests (and the couple, of course) laugh. Ice broken, is time to dance. 3, 2, 1 and open the dancefloor.

Family and friends joined them… So it was really a party!
